What Would You Do If You Knew You Could Not Fail?
In my past lifetime (really this life, but it seems sooooo long ago), when I was in my 20’s, I was working in corporate finance for Mercedes-Benz. I had no connection to my intuition, and little idea what to think about life, death, and the deeper meaning of why we're here.
I have my moon in Scorpio, in the 12th house, near Uranus, so since childhood I have been no stranger to fear, loss, jolting life events, anxiety, and depression. But I had not yet figured out how to handle these issues effectively - and not the slightest idea that the intensity of my emotions and experiences might actually be the key to my deepest gifts. I was really struggling back then, and I spent a lot of time feeling completely lost.
One day, I turned the page to a new month on my desk calendar (you know, those calendars that take up your whole cubicle desk so you can doodle on them all month long), and this was the quote awaiting my eyes:
What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
I was stopped in my tracks.
I had never considered a question like this before.
I stared at those words every single day, letting them reach into the deepest layers of my consciousness.
What would I do?
The only thing I was clear on was that I would have freedom. I would not go to a cubicle or sit under fluorescent lights or stare at Excel spreadsheets all day. Other than that, I had NO idea.
When that month ended, and I needed to turn to the next calendar page, I cut out the quote and pinned it just above my computer monitor, next to the picture of my Doberman, Abby — Where I would be certain to see it every day.
What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
These words became my guiding principle.
I began dreaming into this question more & more ...
And from there, my first daughter was born, catalyzing my awakening to vast new realities and potentials that I had never known could exist.
The trees began to speak to me. I remember thinking it was the oddest thing: As I packed my daughter's lunch every morning, I would stare out the kitchen window at these marvelous trees, and no matter the weather they were dealing with out there, they would so kindly say to me:
Don't go to work and sit under those fluorescent lights. Come out here and be with us all day.
I was astounded. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before. I didn't tell anyone else ... but ...
The magic was finally breaking through to me.
I began a regular shamanic journeying practice, and then a snow-capped mountain called me to visit New Mexico.
There in Taos, I met one of my most important teachers of a lifetime, and I learned that miracles are absolutely possible and readily available to us.
Soon after going to Taos, I created my first website for Sacred Planet.
And soon after that, I leaped off a cliff by quitting my corporate job.
And it's been the most magical, terrifying, beautiful, unimaginably miraculous roller-coaster ride ever since.
I believe that questions like this one are EXTREMELY important for us in our awakening & evolutionary journey.
And so, I ask you: What would YOU do if you knew you could not fail?
P.S. ~ It's ok if you have no idea.
I certainly didn't, when I first asked myself this question.
But my answer to it has gotten clearer and stronger and more expansive every single year, month, week, and day since then.
And I know yours will, too.
The important thing is to begin asking it to yourself — Again and again. Let your answers shift and change, evolve and spiral and meander, and bring you clarity on your deepest heart-&-soul desires in this lifetime.
