Dear Sacred Planet Community,

The Solar Eclipse energies have ushered in seriously challenging events with the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

As many of you know, I am closely connected to Asheville, NC. I visit there often, I have many friends there, and for a long time I was considering moving there.

It has been completely heartbreaking to see the catastrophic damage, lives upended, homes destroyed, and landscapes overwhelmed by flooding and mudslides in the sacred Great Smoky Mountains.

These are truly sacred lands, original home of the Cherokee peoples, and a haven & safe place to so many.

I am so thankful to be able to say that - While everyone was out of communication for a while and I did not know who was safe or not - My friends in & near Asheville have all gotten back to me now and confirmed they are safe

However the troubles continue there, as most people are still without power, and cell service is very erratic & spotty. The entire infrastructure of the City of Asheville / Buncombe County water system was demolished, and it will probably take a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks to have clean water going to the homes again - Perhaps much longer. No running water, no refrigeration, no power in the homes - Many are leaving the area to stay somewhere else until basic services can be restored.

Others are not able to leave, their cars flooded or washed away, a huge number of roads completely destroyed, and many people are stranded out in the mountains with no way to leave. Flood waters in this region have not been this high since an incident during the 1700's.

Helicopters have been airlifting people out of the mountainous regions for days on end, and the search & rescue continues. Organizations are sending teams of mules up into the mountains to bring supplies to people where aircraft and vehicles cannot possibly reach. Many lives have been lost. Entire homes have floated away. For several days, all major interstates in & out of Asheville were completely cut off, covered by water, mudslides, or demolished. Now 1 or 2 of the interstate routes are open; the others were destroyed by flood waters and will take months to rebuild. The devastation is incomprehensible.

I share all of this because we are a global family, and if you are feeling called, you can help! I will list below a number of places to donate ~ Some larger organizations, as well as a few friends of mine who I sincerely trust to give 100% of your donations back to the community where they are needed most.

Please take a moment and give what you can. The people in Asheville & surrounding areas really need all the support they can get at this time.

My friend Morna & her husband have devoted their lives to building a really wonderful Waldorf-style school called Children's Garden School in Barnardsville, North of Asheville. This was one of the hardest-hit areas, and many homes were completely destroyed there. Here is a note from Morna:

We got hit pretty hard in Barnardsville and are desperately trying to rebuild a safe space to care for children quickly to support our families in need. Our schoolhouse and basement have flooded and are in great need of repair. We lost our driveway, parking areas, outdoor children’s play areas, most of our gardens, and most of the fences which keep the children safe from the surrounding areas.

Funds will be used to repair the schoolhouse and grounds so that we can reopen as quickly as possible to serve our children and families in need. No contribution is too small to make a difference.

As far as the Solar Eclipse happening today (October 2, 2024) ... !

This storm and the resulting unprecedented flooding were magnified & intensified by climate change and warming oceans. These constructs are based on the false beliefs, false patterns, and false models of reality that have been imposed upon us (over the last few thousand years) by confused, lost, and misguided human systems & structures.

Together, we will make the needed changes.
